BADMINTON
ST. MATTHEW’S CLUB ANNUAL MEETING HELD LAST NIGHT. SUCCESSFUL START MADE. The annual meeting of the St Matthew's Badminton Club was held in the Parish Hall last night. The Ven Archdeacon E. J. Rich presided over a good attendance of members. The election of officers for the ensuing season resulted as follows: — President. Ven Archdeacon E. J. Rich; vice-presidents, the Revs T. V. Pearson, V. W. Joblin and FI. Taeapa; hon secretary, Mr N. W. Ninnes; club captain, Mr W. Harrington; committee, captain and secretary ex officio, Misses N. Richards, M. Johnston and N. Yates. Messrs C. J. Carle. R. Doggett, and N. Cameron. It was decided that the subscriptions be increased to 27s 6d, reducible by 5s if paid before May 31. By popular vote the playing nights were fixed for Mondays and Thursdays. The ladies' committee and the retiring secretary. Mr C. J. Carle were thanked for their services during the last season. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to the president for his generous assistance After club business had been concluded some 16 members had their first game of the season. The successful start made in the club’s activity promises well for the coming season.
