OPINION IN EUROPEAN COUNTRIES RESOLUTION STIFFENED IN FRANCE. PRO-GERMAN COMMENT IN ITALY. (Received This Day, 11.45 a.m.) LONDON. April 9. After the first astonishment, a wave of cold disgust swept Franco, intensifying the nation’s grim resolution. Swedish circles in Paris regard Sweden’s entry into the war as inevitable. The Italian Press reaction is unanimously pro-German in condemning Britain’s "violation of Norwegian waters.” It is widely felt that the war will be extended and intensified. The Swiss Press condemns Germany. Special military measures are not considered necessary. Although horrified al the German step, the Dutch Press mostly accuses the Allies of responsibility for it by letting the initiative slip through their fingers after grasping it by mine-lay-ing.

SUPREME COUNCIL DECISIONS AT LONDON MEETING, MILITARY AND DIPLOMATIC MEASURES. (Received This Day, noon.) RUGBY. April 9. The silualion resulting from the German invasion of Norway and Denmarl; was reviewed by the Supreme War Council in London this afternoon, and according to a communique, the French and British representatives "decided, in full agreement, upon the various measures, militifi-y and diplomatic. to.be taken to meet this latest act of German aggression." It was the seventh meeting of the Council. Britain was represented by Mr Chamberlain. Lord Halifax. Messrs Winston Churchill and Oliver Stanley mid Sir S. Hoare. who was accompanied by Sir A. Cadogan. Sir Cyril Newell. Sir Dudley Pound and General Sir E. Ironside. France was represented by Mm. Reynaud and Daladior, who wore accompanied by M. Corbin. Admiral Darlan mid General Kooltz.
