WILL OF THE PEOPLE
EXPRESSED EMPHATICALLY IN BRITAIN PARTIES FULLY AGREED IN PARLIAMENT. DECLARATIONS BY LEADERS I OF OPPOSITION. i (Received This Dav, Noon.) RUGBY, April 9. The assurance of full aid which the British and French Governments have hastened to convey , without any delay to the Norwegian Government in its resistance to the unprovoked and calculated aggression of Nazi Germany expresses the will of the entire British people. This fresh repudiation by the Nazi leaders of any moral restraint or human consideration in their relations with peoples they believe unable to resist the German power has caused the same intense indignation as the attacks on Czechoslovakia and Poland. The public are the more determined to see Europe liberated from the Nazi menace by the victory of the Allied arms. That was the temper of the House of Commons, which heard Mr Chamberlain's statement this afternoon. and which was expressed anew in the observations by the two Opposition Leaders. Mr Attlee spoke of British sympathy with the people of Denmark and Norway, “two of the most highly civilised nations in Europe, who are now attacked by the morst barbarous,” and added:"It is abundantly clear that never has the German Government accepted the neutrality of these countries as until-, ling them to safety, because it is clear that plans for their invasion have been prepared for a long time ahead to be put into operation whenever the German Government so decided. This is another instance of aggression.”
Sir A. Sinclair associated himself with Mr Attlee’s expression of sympathy and. like Mr Attlee, hoped that the promised Allied aid would be speedy and effective.
