FATAL INJURIES

SUSTAINED BY SHEPHERD. MUSTERING TN STEEP COUNTRY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH* This Day. Falling down a steep bluff on Woodbank Station on Saturday, John William Joynt Thacker. aged 28. head shepherd, suffered injuries from which he died shortly afterwards.

Accompanied by a youth, Mr Thacker was in a district about 12 miles from the station where they had been mustering. The youth scrambled down to the spot where Mr Thacker came to rest, about two hundred yards away, but he died within a few minutes, apparently from injuries .to his head. A party set out to bring the body back as soon as news of the accident was received, but heavy fog prevented them from going on. The party won! out. again this morning.
