Good racing featured the second and concluding day of the Manawatu Racing Club's autumn meeting at Awapuni on Saturday. The principal event, the Manawatu Sires’ Produce Stakes, was won by the Auckland colt, Phaleron, who was favourite. Classform repeated her win of the first day in the main handicap event, the Tamatete Handicap, and Rakahanga scored in the Longburn. The North Island Hack Plate saw the best dividend of the day when Piastre won. The weather was patchy, threatening and then occasionally fine and warm, but the rain held off, there being only a light shower after the last race. There was a large attendance and the turnover showed an increase on the second day last year, though it was not quite able to make up the deficit of the first day. At the Vincent Jockey Club’s meeting held at Wingatui Combat won the Lauder Handicap and Night Wings accounted for the Lochella Cup. Cape Gabo won the Irving Memorial Handicap and the Highweight Handicap at Reefton, while the Stewards’ Handicap went to New Note;
