PROVISIONAL COMMITTEE MEETING. DISTRICT CANVAS PROPOSED. There was a good attendance at a meeting of the provisional committee of the Wairarapa sub-branch of the New Zealand Founders' Society held in the Masterton A. and P. rooms last night. Representatives were present from all parts of the district. It was decided that the provisional committee recently appointed should operate until a personal canvas had been made throughout the district. To celebrate the birthday of Masterton, it was suggested that a social afternoon. to which old settlers would be invited, be arranged. The matter is to be further considered. Miss O. lorns was appointed secre-i tary. Mr E. J. Burke hon treasurer, and Mr G. R. Sykes chairman. ■ The following telegram was sent this morning to the Mayor of Pahiatua, to mark the Centennial celebrations there: "Wish you every success. Hats off to those who blazed the trail.” I
