COLLIE CLUB MEETING YESTERDAY'S RESULTS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The first day of the local trials yesterday again attracted a good attendance of spectators, and a satisfactory number of entries. Mr J. G. Sutherland was judge and the running of the events was in the hands of a very capable committee. The catering on the grounds was done by ladies of the Rest Room Committee. The Distributing Company’s Challenge Cup and the Hansen Challenge Cup for most points by the one dog in classes 1 and 2 was won by Gordon Thomson's "Speed.” < Results were as follow;— Short head, drive and yard. A. M. Jury’s Ted. 581 points, 1; T. Jennings' Speck, 57 points, 2; Reg Henson's Jack, 551 points, 3; M. J. Wilton's Chiel, 54J points, 4. Huntaway—N. A. Hume's Dan, 40 points, 1; M. J. Farrell’s Ben, 37 points, 2; A M. Jury’s Mac. 35 points. 3; A. M. Jury’s, Bess, 34 points, 4.
Personal Items. Miss Mildred Tyler returned to Warkworth yesterday after spending a holiday with her parents. Mr and Mrs J. J. Cotter have returned from a visit to Plimmerton. Mrs Fisher has been visiting her mother, Mrs Hobman.
CENTENARY DAY DISPLAY OF BUNTING. Today being our centenary day, most business houses have a display of bunting. Coloured lights have been erected in the square, giving the town a gay carnival appearance. Much interest is being displayed in the collection of old photos, and the old household utensils in the showroom of Mr F. Dale’s electricity house. One window of Messrs Pain and Kershaw's store is displaying antique treasures — an old Bible 200 years old, a wedding waistcoat 90 years old, a pair of stockings worn at Queen Victoria's court, old tea caddies, powder horns, inlaid writing desk, a solid silver urn. porridge spoons, sunff boxes (100 years old and pottery jug. These displays of worth seeing.
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Women’s Institute was held on Thursday afternoon, Mrs Jolly presiding. The making of a posy from sweets was demonstrated by Mrs Caseley, and an extract from "Pioneer Tales’’ was read by Mrs Sadd. The competition for the best bloom in the garden was won by Mrs Knell with Mrs Pryor second and Mrs Pressing third. The competition for next month is the best war time cake, recipe to be taken from the Women's Institute book. The points prize for the past year was awarded to Mrs D. Pryor, and for the most consistent competitor to Mrs S. Chapman. Intoxicated Motorist Fined. At the Marlinborough S.M. Court, before Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M.. Clarence David Penniall was,charged with having been in a state of intoxication whilst in charge of a car. Defendant pleaded guilty. Constable Pressing stated that defendant had made an offer to pay £5 towards the repair of the car lie had collided with. Accused was fined £lO and his licence was cancelled.
