The trial of members of the “Christian Front” has opened. The defence alleged that, the indictment against 11 of 17 persons accused was founded on the testimony of Russian-employed provocateurs endeavouring to instill religious prejudice and other “un-Ameri-can” influences. The defence added that certain Communists, holding high Government, positions in Washington, planted the provocateurs.
