TRIAL OPENED IN NEW YORK. SOME SWEEPING ALLEGATIONS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 10.45 a.m.) NEW YORK, April 5. The trial of members of the “Christian Front” has opened. The defence alleged that, the indictment against 11 of 17 persons accused was founded on the testimony of Russian-employed provocateurs endeavouring to instill religious prejudice and other “un-Ameri-can” influences. The defence added that certain Communists, holding high Government, positions in Washington, planted the provocateurs.
