A day communique states that a patrol raided an enemy post northwest of Saarlautern. The enemy lost about fifteen killed. Supplementing this communique, the German News Agency describes the patrol raid as very bloody. It says the enemy position was wiped out.

FRENCH DENIAL RAID EASILY REPULSED. IN SPITE OF HEAVY GUNFIRE. (Received This Day, 9.50 a.m.) LONDON. April 5. A message from Paris states that a German raid was made under cover of one of the heaviest artillery and trench mortar barrages yet used, but it was easily repulsed, though the defenders suffered several losses, by artillery fire.
