ESPERANTO

MASTERTON CLUB MEETING. At the weekly meeting of the Masterton Esperanto Club held last evening in the club room. Municipal Buildings. Mr W. J. Beresford presided over a satisfactory attendance of members. A representative collection of Esperanto journals published in Switzerland Holland. England. France and Nev Zealand was displayed, each mcmbei receiving a number of copies for detailed perusal and exchange. Speaking on the subject of Esperanto. Mr W. H. King, referred to the wide field of books, both translated and originals, now at the disposal of those with a knowledge of Esperanto. For many years the classics of most languages, including Chinese, Japanese and Russian, and embracing the complete Bible and the works of Shakespeare. Dumas. Dickens and Molierc have been available to Esperantis' book lovers. Other recent additions are translated works by popular modern writers. Esperanto books have been appearing at the average rate of one edition per day up to the outbreak o( the present war. The usual weekly tuition extended over an hour and a half and embraced several phases of language study, also useful practice in pronounciation.
