PLUNKET SOCIETY MONTHLY MEETING OF MEMBERS (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Plunket Society was held in the society’s rooms yesterday afternoon. There were present. Mcsdames Q. Donald (president), J. G. McKenzie, H. R. Bloxam, M. C. Turner and A. S. Kilsby. Apologies for absence were received from IVlesdames Arch. Clark, G. Yule, E. M. Wakely, G. S. Sharp, N. Bergh, J. Willett. A. R. Robbins, F. C. Benton, N. C. C. Shepherd and J. G. Donald. Accounts totalling £4 15s were passed for payment. The balance in the Bank of New Zealand and the P.O. Savings Bank is £7ll. Dr. Deem, medical adviser, and Miss Fitzgibbons, nursing adviser, will make an official visit on Friday. April 12. Mesdames Bloxam, Kilsby and McKenzie were appointed a committee to arrange lunch at the society s rooms for the visitors. The nurse reported as follow: Babies under supervision, 69; pre-school children, 21; new cases for the month, 5; visits to homes, old cases 43, new case 1; visits at the rooms, adults 62, children 59; telephone calls 32, miles travelled in car, 492; districts visited. Featherston, Pukio, Pihautea, Cross Creek. Western Lake, Martinborough Dyerville, Otaraia, Lower Valley, Ruamahanga, Pirinoa, Kahutara, South Featherston. Kaiwaiwai and Lower Valley.
BIBLE SOCIETY ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the British and Foreign Bible Society was held in the Presbyterian Hall on Wednesday afternoon. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr. J. T. Holland; vice-presidents, Mesdames Arch Clark, Bladen and Peene; secretary, Mrs. Keenan; treasurer, Mr. Hunter. Mrs. Holland outlined the collectinfi scheem for the year. Mrs. Wakelin, organising secretary for Wellington, addressed the meeting. Afternoon tea was served by the members of the executive. Appeal for Funds. The joint council of the Order of St John and the Red Cross Society have been authorised by the National Patriotic Board to launch an appeal throughout New Zealand for funds for sick and wounded soldiers. The fund will be officially opened on May 12. Florence Nightingale's birthday. Personal. Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Peene, Napier, are visiting their' son, Mr. A. G. Peene.
