SUMMARY FOR MARCH. MONTHLY REPORT OF RECORDER. Miss A. M. Brown, Masterton weather recorder, supplies the following summary for March (figures for March last year given in parentheses): —Pressure at 9 a.m. standard time 30.87 inches on 23rd (30.71); lowest, 29.71 on 21st (30.18). Temperatures: Absolute shade maximum, 80.7 degrees on 15th (77.8); absolute shade minimum, 33.9 degrees on 24th (29.3). Thus the range was 46.8 (48.5). Mean temperature for the month, 57.4 (55.0). Absolute grass minimum, 25.1 on the 24th (20.2); average grass minimum, 36 7 (35.9); average at one foot underground, 59.9 (56.1). Severest frost, 5.3 on night of 23rd (10.2). Days of''frost (grass minimum 30.4 degrees Fahr, or lower), 5 (9); of shade temperature below 32 degrees F.. 0 (3); of gale 3 (1). Total rainfall. 2.24 inches on 11 days (4.22); greatest fall, 1.25 points on Ist (1.59). Total sunshine 228.3 hours (164.2): daily average. 7.4; sunniest day 12th 11.8 hours (10.7); wind run. 1835 miles (1332); average, 59. The total rainfall registered during the first quarter of this year was 6.20 inches.

SOLWAY RAINFALL FIGURES FOR LAST MONTH. Mr. I-I. IVI. Boddington reports that rain was measured on 10 days in March. The maximum fall was 1.26 in. on the 2nd. the minimum. 1 point on the 29th.
