CHINESE PUPPET LEADER ACCORDING TO CHUNGKING MINISTER. TOKIO COMMENT ON AMERICAN POLICY. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright. TOKIO, April 1. Commenting on the declaration of the American Secretary of State, Mr Hull, that the United States will not recognise Wang .Ching-wei’s regime, Mr Arita, Foreign Minister, said that the American policy of refusing to recognise political changes secured by force was frequently carried out in a narrow manner. He added that America’s non-recognition would not influence Japan’s full support of the Nanking regime. A message from Chungking says that the Foreign Minister, Wang Chung-wei —distinct from Wang Chingwei—said Mr Hull’s statement should make Japanese militarists realise the futility of carrying out plans to dominate Asia and the Pacific Ocean. He added that Wang Ching-wei was a puppet who had earned the contempt of the Chinese people.
