REDUCING COST OF RELICENSING. STICKERS INSTEAD OF PLATES. As a war time measure, it was decided at a meeting of the Wairarapa Provincial Executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union yesterday, to forward a remit to the Dominion Executive for' immediate consideration, that the relicensing of motor vehicles be indicated by stickers instead of new plates. The remit was put forward by Mr W. G. K. Wiggins, of Greytown, who stated that number plates cost the country £4,000 per year for imported raw material alone. He considered that a considerable saving could be effected by the use of stickers, on the lines of the system being used in England and Australia. He pointed out that the same set of plates could be used, as relicensing could be shown by a cheap sticker on the windscreen. It was observed by another member that the system suggested had been in vogue for years in England. The proposal was unanimously adopted. j v
