BARLEY FOR PIG FEED
FURTHER SUPPLIES ARRIVE. Furilior supplies of Australian barley for pig feed have now arrived in New Zealand. On March 22, 14.000 bags of feed barley were unloaded al Auckland, and it is expected that a further shipment of 15.600 bags will arrive at the same port about the first week in April. About April 10, 8000 bags will be unloaded at New Plymouth, and the remainder of the shipment, amounting to 17,000 bags, will be available at Wellington. The Department of Agriculture states that the price for minimum lots of ten bags for cash sales is still 3s 4d per bushel ex wharf, and orders may be placed through merchants in the usual way. Farmers, it is stated, would be well advised to secure not less than six weeks’ supplies in order to avoid possible shortages due to shipping difficulties.
