Miss Olive Pain of the Masterion telephone exchange left today for the South Island, where she will spend her annual leave. The death occurred at Dannevirke on Tuesday of Mr Richard Charles Dixon, brother of Mrs A. Pickering, of Woodville. Mr C. G. M. Boyce, headmaster of the Christchurch East School since 1929, will retire on May 20. Mr Boyce has been teaching, for more than 40 years. Mr R. E. Price, controller of the waterfront at Auckland, arrived at Wellington by the Limited express yesterday from Auckland to continue discussions on New Zealand waterfront conditions.

The Rev Father D. J. Minett, who has been studying in Rome for the past four years and a half, returned to New Zealand recently and has taken up his duties on the teaching staff at Greenmeadows, Hawke’s Bay. The Primate of New Zealand, the Most. Rev. A. W. Averill, and Mrs Averill, left Auckland last night for a holiday visit, to the south. While in Christchurch Archbishop Averill will instil his successor in the Primacy, Bishop Campbell West-Watson.
