LEAGUE OF NATIONS
MASTERTON COUNCIL. REPORT ON CONFERENCE. At a meeting of the council of the local branch of the League of Nations Union, Mrs Engstrom, who was one of the delegates at' the Dominion League of Nations summer school and conference, gave an interesting report in connection therewith. It had been a revelation to her to note the intellectual calibre of the speakers and their knowledge of international affairs. She made special reference to Dr E. N. Merrington. the head of Knox College, and Mr J. H. Hall, who had recently returned from Geneva. She outlined the work carried out at the conference and the activities of the League. An interesting discussion followed the report. The treasurer reported that many subscriptions were outstanding.* It was decided to ask those in arrears to pay their subscriptions to Mr G. R. Sykes or Miss Barrer. The annual meeting of the branch will be held on April 9 at 8 p.m. at the W.D.F.U. Rest Room.
