The “Herald’s" Newcastle correspondent says it is generally expected that if the coal strike continues, Broken Hill Proprietary steel works will practically suspend production within the next few weeks. This in turn will lead to the dismissal of men from industries dependent on the steel works of raw materials. A motion was carried at the Easter Labour Conference pledging the support of the State A.L.P. for the striking coal miners. 11. was decided that all members of the party should pay a levy of Is a week towards financing Ihe strike. Voting nt the Easter Labour Conference indicated that Mr .J. T. Lang and his supporters were defeated in the election of conference officials.
