NEW FRENCH MINISTRY
PROSPECTS STILL RATHER UNCERTAIN
ABSTENTIONS PROM VOTE OF CONFIDENCE,
CONSERVATIVES AND SOCIALISTS AT ODDS.
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received This Day, at. noon). PARIS. March 22.
After a brief respite, France was again plunged .‘into political uncertainty tonight as the result of a Chamber of Deputies vote of 208 to 156. in favour of M Reynaud’s Government. Although there was a majority of 112 after an acrimonious debate on the confidence motion, there were 111. abstentions, resulting in IVI Reynaud immediately calling upon Cabinet to decide whether to continue in office. The Chamber of Deputies has adourned.
M Reynaud later decided to remain in office.
Earlier is was reliably stated that he was remaining in office unless Radi-cal-Socialist Ministers, including M Daladier. were withdrawn. After the first flush of enthusiasm, the rumblings of discontent could be discerned when the Deputies met in an excited mood. The Rightists were furious over the inclusion of Socialists in the Cabinet.
