TURF NEWS AND NOTES

CURRENT TOPICS FROM STABLE AND COURSE Easter Racing at Tauherenikau FORM OF OPAKI-TRAINED HORSES (BY “THE GRAFTER.’’) Horses trained at Opaki have been shaping well during the past week. Lady Montana has shown improved form on that displayed at Wellington, and has brightened up considerably. She should have an excellent chance of winning the Cup at Feilding. White Rajah has greatly pleased in his work, and is in good fettle for the meeting at Tauherenikau. Whichever horse beats him in the Easter Handicap should win. The Black Ronald—Missmaid gelding, Master Solway, has been striding along excellently, and B. Burgess has him in good fettle. It will not surprise followers of the turf if he breaks his maiden status at the Wairarapa Racing Club’s meeting on Saturday. Counter (Croupier—Thurville) which is in A. Jenkins’s stable at Opaki, is being built up gradually, and is how moving along in a satisfactory manner. It is quite on the cards that he will be amongst the money at Tauherenikau. Golden Wattle has been doing such good work at Opaki during the past week or two' that followers of form would not be surprised to see the Cape Horn gelding salute the judge at Tauherenikau.

Te Ore Now Well. Te Ore has got rid of the boil which was troubling her and has been galloping in good style at Opaki. The Lord Quex mare is due to run at Tauherenikau on Saturday and may get into the money. Going Well. Rose Mimetic, a black mane by Mimetic —Rose Willonyx, which is still a maiden, is going satisfactorily in her work and it is considered that she should show up well at the Wairarapa Racing Club’s meeting. Gay Fox. Gay Fox is perhaps not doing ns well as some observers would like, but it is considered that he has a good show of securing money at Tauherenikau. Teams for Taiiherenikau. A.
