Uni led States Minister to Canada, addressing ■he Canadian Empire Clubs' criticised American isolationists and issued a warning that Germany "frankly and openly seeks to destroy the institutions and social and economic order on which the United States Government is founded. It is only too apparent that the life, liberty, livelihood and very safety of citizens of all neutral democracies may be dependent on the outcome of the present war.”
