Mrs. W. Churchill, Seatoun, is visiting her mother. Mrs. G. Hutchinson, of Essex Street, Masterton. Miss Williams, of Auckland, has been the guest of her sister, Mrs Barnett. Tiraumea Road, Pahiatua.

Mr. and Mrs. W. de Groot, Whangarei, are spending a holiday with Mrs. A. E. Winzenberg. Essex Street, Masterton. <

Mrs. R. Wright, president of the Greenmeadows Women's Institute. Napier, and her daughter, Mrs. Gollop. are on a short visit to Masterton. The Girl Guide movement in New Zealand has suffered a loss by the death of Miss Nita McHardy, of Aramoana, Waipawa. Miss McHardy was a prominent figure in the work of the New Zealand Girl Guides’ Association, and was known in its sister organisations in many parts of the world. In 1934 she represented New Zealand at • the World Conference of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts held at AdelLaden, Switzerland. Three years later she visited Australia as New Zealand delegate at the first Australian and New Zealand conference for guide trainers held in Sydney. On Miss McHardy’s retirement from active guiding in 19.38 she was elected a life member of the Dominion Council. She is survived by her father, Mr P. A. McHardy, Havelock North, four sisters, Mrs L. Bale. Palmerston North, Mrs D. Cameron, Wairarapa. Mrs Frances Clarke, Northumberland, England, and Mrs R. Bunny, Masterton, | and two brothers, Messrs Foroes McHardy and Douglas McHardy, Aramoana, Waipawa. Her mother died some years ago.
