CRICKET HOROEKA WIN CHAMPIONSHIP. ("Times-Age” Special.) During the weekend Tiraumea met Horoeka, at Horoeka. in the deciding game of the cricket championship. The match was won ' by Horoeka. Before the game started, Horoeka had eleven points to their credit and Tiraumea nine (with a further game to play). Horoeka gained a three-point decision and thus put themselves in a position where they could not be overtaken. Horoeka batted first and compiled a total of 217 (Thom 30. Thomas 37, Urquhart 0, Clemens 41. G. Lunt 33. Chatfield 6. Whitter 16, Frame 7, H. Urquhart 11, Polglase 1, Hales 10. extras 23). Bowling for Tiraumea, P. Hay took three wickets for 33 and C. Raleigh four for 28. Tiraumea replied wtih 126 (L. Curtis 16, B. Spring 4, C. Raleigh 16, Hislop 26, Pl Hay 5, Hart, senr., 3, D. Curtis 4. J. Hay 1, G. Curtis 11, Hart jun. 11. F. Herbert 9. extras 20). Bowling for Horoeka, Thom took five wickets for 28 rouns and Thomas three for 34. Tiraumea were required to follow on and made 114 (Herbert 0, G. Curtis 0. Hislop 54. C. Raleigh 3. P. Hay 9, L. Curtis 30, Hart sen. 0. J. Hay 0, D. Curtis 1, Hart jun. 1. B. Spring 0, extras 16). Bowling for Horoeka. Thomas took four wickets for 31 runs and J. Holes two for 16. Horoeka required to make 23 runs for an outright win and made the necessary runs with the loss of five wickets (G. Lunt 0, Chatfield 0, Frame 2, Polglase 0 Whitter 13 not out, Hales 12, Thomas 1 not out, extras 2; total 30). Bowling for Tiraumea Hislop took 3 wickets for 17 runs and Hart. Senr, 2 for 11 runs. After the game the Tiraumea captain G. Hart, Senr. called lor cheers for Horoeka. A. Clemens, Horoeka's captain, replied, thanking Tiraumea for their congratulations. Personal. Visitors to the Exhibition during Faster week will include Mr and Mrs Stevenson. Mr and Mrs Hansen, and Mi and Mrs Duncan, of Tiraumea.
