MAURICEVILLE WEST
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a large attendance at the annual meeting of the Mauriceville District Women’s Institute held at the residence of the president, Mrs A. I’orsberg. The meeting was opened with the "Ode to Friendship,” the Aspiration and the Prayer for Peace. The financial report and balance sheet presented by the treasurer showed that the Institute funds were fairly low, due to the money spent on wool for garments knitted and sent to war refugee children overseas. It was decided to study a “Box Lecture” from Massey College. Detailed arrangements for this were left to a sub-committee to be appointed at the April meeting.
It was unanimously decided to send parcels to the soldiers. A donation was gratefully received to purchase wool for knitting garments for soldiers. Members were asked to dig their potatoes grown for the “Potato Fund” and bring them to the April meeting. For her artistic poker work on a lovely suede banner, a very hearty vote of thanks was passed to Miss M. Nikolaison.
