Red Cross Society.
A meeting of the Red Cross Society has been called in Masterton for this evening, to be held in the Social Hall. Municipal Buildings, at 8 o’clock, for the purpose of electing officers and a committee. Interhouse Special Train. Although bookings are heavy the secretary of the Wairarapa Interhouse Association, Mr D. Costello (c/o W.F.C.A.), is still taking reservations for the special train which is to convey the Interhouse girls' teams to the Exhibition on Easter Saturday, particulars of which have been previously announced in the “Times-Age.” Bread-Eating Record. By eating 30 slices of bread at one meal, a girl attending the Rangiora Health Camp recently set what is said io be a camp record. The secretary of the Christchurch Federation of Health Camps (Mr St. J. J. Dunne), who has been staying at the camp, told a reporter on Friday that he had known children to eat more than 20 slices of bread during their first camp meals, but it was the first time he had seen a child dispose of 30 slices without any difficulty. Church Singing.
A feature of the services at St. Matthew's Church on Sunday was the excellent. singing of the choir, which, under the direction of Mr William C. Mann, gave a spirited rendering tn the morning ol “March to Calvary” from Maunders "Olivet to Calvary." and in tin' evening, of Stainer's "Crucifixion.” The male singing reached a high standard. the lour principal soloists. Messrs V Greer. F. Thornton, A. Hale and L. Dilnot Wales being in great form. Mr H. Miller Hope was an able accompanist. on the organ. In the absence of the Ven. Archdeacon E. J. Rich, the Rev J. V. Joblin thanked the choir for its excellent performance.
