ENEMY PLANE ON BRITISH COAST EXTENSIVE RECONNAISSANCE FLIGHTS. MADE BY BRITISH MACHINES. Ev Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. LONDON, March 16. The Air Ministry announced: ‘'During the past 24 hours air reconnaissance activities included an extensive night Hight over Polish territory by aircraft of the R.A.F. Bomber Command, and an engagement between aircraft of the Coastal Command and an enemy bomber. During a running light, in which the enemy was repeatedly attacked, damage was seen to be inflicted. The enemy aircraft finally escaped in clouds. “Aircraft of the Bomber Command carried out reconnaissance over Heligoland Bight this morning. Opposition was experienced from enemy fighters and anti-aircraft ground defences. Our -aircraft completed their tasks and returned safely.” Berlin states that the German air force reconnoitred eastern France and the entire North Sea. and attacked British patrol boats, sinking one and damaging another. There is no confirmation in London of this claim. A message from Prague says that last night’s anniversary celebrations in Prague, officially marking the formation of the Czech protectorate, ended with a sudden blackout, presumably owing to a visit by British airmen.
