MOTOR TRAGEDIES
PASSENGER FATALLY INJURED. ACCIDENT NEAR POKENO. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND. March 17. Thrown out of a motor-car when it overturned on the main road just north of Pokeno on Saturday night, a passenger received injuries from which he died a short time after the accident. The victim was: — Richard Edward Ayers, aged 54. single, a labourer, of Otahuhu. CAR CAPSIZES. YOUTH LOSES LIFE. WANGANUI. March 16. A youth suffered fatal injuries when a car he was driving capsized in Patea today. He was: Maurice Signal, aged 18. Wanganui. The accident happened at 8 a.m. in the business centre of Patea. Mr Signal was taken to the Patea Hospital, where he died three hours later. Mr Signal was a member of the Union Boat Club, and was going, with four other oarsmen, to Waitara to take part in the regatta there. The four other occupants of the car were not injured. Mr Signal was employed at the Wanganui Sash and Door Co. Ltd. He had been a member of the Union Boat Club for two seasons.
