FIRE BRIGADE
LOSSES IN WELLINGTON THROUGH ENLISTMENT. APPOINTMENT OF AUXILIARIES PROPOSED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Having lost 20 men through enlistments in the forces Superintendent Woolley expressed a desire at a Fire Board meeting today to reinforce the Brigade strength by the appointment of six extra auxiliary men and a reserve auxiliary of twelve men. to take the place of those leaving to serve in the Army. He did not propose to withhold permission to men who enlist, so long :ts there is a supply of men available to take their places, he said, and urged the board to consider replacements.
The matter will be considered at the next meeting. A report from Superintendent Woolley is to bo circulated to members for their study meanwhile.
