WAR OFFICE CHANGE
MR HORE-BELISHA’S FUTURE. The future of Mr Hore-Belisha has become an engrossing topic since his resignation from the War Office. Unlike Sir Samuel Hoare and Mr Edon, writes “Atticus” in the “Sunday Times,” he will hardly sit in the famous corner seat above the gangway where resigning Conservative Ministers go when they enter the twilight of the gods. As a National Liberal he will still be a Front Bencher, since that party occupies the front row of the Parliamentary stalls just beyond the Ministerial Bench. Wo have not yet reached the last chapter of the story. Mr Oliver Stanley has the qualities to make him a success at the War Office. He has a fine grasp of detail, and his speaking improves all the time. For the first time he assumes an office which is spectacular and where virtue must be accompanied by trumpets. In such a post one must realise that publicity is important. Lord Derby’s son must get over his dislike of the limelight.
