SERIOUS CHARGES FURTHER REMAND GRANTED. (“Times-Age” Special.) In the S.M. Court last evening Gordon Willingham appeared on re--rnand on charges of theft and arson. The police applied for a further remand until March 23, which the presiding J’s.P., Messrs J. S. Tripe and A. H. Herbert, granted. Bail was renewed at £2OO self and two sureties of £lOO each. CROQUET HONORARY MEMBERS’ DAY. The active members of the. Eketahuna Croquet Club entertained the club's honorary members "at the greens yesterday. Alt hough the attendance was not as large as it was hoped for, owing to counter attractions, the occasion was highly enjoyable. The day was beautifully fine and several competitions were played, the results of which were: Hurry scurry: Mesdames M. Herbert and A. Hansen, after a play-off with Mesdames R. Dickson and H. Price. Peg corner: Mrs P. Fauvel. Golf croquet: Mesdames H. Price and P. Fauvel tied, and Mrs Price was the winner of the toss. The trophies for the competitions were generously donated by Mesdames R. Dickson, Fauvel and Miss Angus. Afternoon tea was served by the active members. The president took the opportunity of the adjournment to thank the honorary members for their attendance and expressed the hope that they had enjoyed themselves. Mrs Fauvel later presented the trophies to the winners of the competitions. Personals. 'Miss L. Morris, High Street, is at present visiting relatives in Dannevirke. She intends visiting Napier and Waipukurau before returning home. Mrs VZ. J. Henderson is at present attending the Red Cross Conference in Wellington as the Eketahuna delegate. ATHLETIC CLUB SPORTS ON EASTER MONDAY. A committee meeting of the Eketahuna Amateur Athletic Club was held last night, the president, Mr S. Daniel, presiding over an excellent attendance of members. Arrangements for the sports to be held on Easter Monday were completed, and it was decided to make a start with the preparation of the grounds during the coming weekend. It was regretfully decided to delete the wrestling events from the programme. This was the outcome of information laid before the meeting over which the committee had no control.
The officials for the day were appointed. including members who are to be asked to conduct the stall and sideshows.
