General Übaldo Soddu, Under-Secre-tary of War. told the Fascist Chamber that Italy was ready io defend its liberty of action with a million trained men under arms and a fortified bulwark across its Alpine frontiers. The Italian fortifications are not artificial, like the Maginot and Siegfried lines, but a strengthening of natural obstacles. This fortification was commenced some time ago and was carried cut on all frontiers.
