SPECIAL CENTENNIAL MEETING
The Masterton Amateur Swimming Club was favoured with a mild and pleasant evening for its special Centennial championship meeting in the Dixon Street Baths last evening. The Mayor (Mr. T. Jordan) was unable to be present but there was a good attendance of the public and they witnessed some excellent racing. The Ekctahuna Club has cancelled its carnival which was to have been held next Saturday night. The Carterton Club is holding a special Centennial carnival next Saturday afternoon, and a bus to convey swimmers and friends tp this event will leave the Masterton Post Office at 1.15 p.m. Entries must be handed in to the club secretary, Mr. R. Barnes, immediately. Next Tuesday evening the club will hold a social evening in the Kia Ora Club rooms in honour of three'-.mem-bers who will be leaving with the Seconrf Echelon. Lieut. G. Gaze and Privates H. Dixon and P. O'Neill. It is hoped that all senior club members who can will be present to give a fitting farewell to these three club mates who have been so prominent in club activities of recent years.
