INQUEST OPENED
11 '-4* DEATH OF SQUADRON-LEADER ALLAN. FORMAL EVIDENCE TAKEN. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. An inquest into the death of Squad-ron-Leader David Malyon Allan, the victim of the flying tragedy at Mangere yesterday, was opened today before the City Coroner. Mr F. K. Hunt. Sergeant Brown, of Onehunga, appeared for the police. Evidence of identification was given by Ronald Affleck Kirkup. Flight-Lieu-tenant in the Royal New Zealand Air Force, stationed at Mangere. “I saw Squadron-Leader Allan take ofl' from the tarmac at 9.15 a.m.. with Pilot-Officer P. G. H. Newton." the witness stated. "He was in his usual state of health. At 10.20. I saw his body in a paddock near Black Bridge. Mangere.” Witness said he had known Squad-ron-Leader Allan for eleven years. He was 44 years old. married and resided in Mangere. The inquest was adjourned sine die.
