TRAWLERS HIT BACK
ATTACK BY U-BOATS REPELLED RAIDER DEPARTS AFTER SHARP SHELLING. ATTACKS ON LIGHTSHIP FAIL. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. LONDON, March 11. At an east coast port the crews of two fishing trawlers arrived home without their fishing gear but with proof that their guns are a 'match for a U-boat. While fishing in the North Sea they saw a submarine. Both immediately hacked away their nets so as to manoeuvre the trawlers and return the fire of the U-boat. After some sharp shelling the submarine dived out of sight. Two attacks on a British lightship, 30 miles off the Norfolk coast, were described by the crew. During the attacks 18 bombs were dropped, but all missed the ship. Both attacks were made at dusk on successive days, and each time the Nazi bombers used their navigation lights. ____________
