The heat wave continues with no sign of a change. Melbourne recorded 105.5 degrees, and country centres upward .of 110. It is the hottest March weather on record, and the heat is becoming more oppressive with the advent of hot north winds.

Last night’s minimum was 65.5 degrees, rising rapidly till 10 a.m., when the temeprature was 95. Yesterday set a new water consumption record of 172,000.000 gallons in the metropolitan area. Fortunately all storages are full, and there is no danger of a shortage. Many people have prepared to spend the night at the beaches.
