W.C.T.U. PROPOSAL
PROHIBITION FOR. WAR PERIOD
(By Telegraph—Press Asociation.) INVERCARGILL. March 11. The following resolution was adopted at the Dominion conference of the W.C.T.U. today:— . That the Dominion Women's Christian Temperance Union, inconvention assembled, desires to bring under the notice of Cabinet Ministers the serious evasion of the law reported by the inspector of police to the Auckland Licensing Committee and the magistrate's comments thereon. This convention wishes to emphasize the tact that alcohol is a habit-forming drug, and licensees who are financially interested in increasing its sale are breaking the law in order to cultivate this habit in young men and so create regular customers. Taking the lull facts into consideration, this convention is of opinion that in fairness iO the men who are offering their lues in defence of all we hold dear, national prohibition should be enacted for the duration of the war.
