OBITUARY

MR P. P. ANARU. The death occurred at Gladstone on. Saturday of Mr Poua Pahira Anaru, of Carterton. The late Mr Anaru, who was born at Waipoapoa Pa. Gladstone, 59 years ago, was a member of the Ngaiti-KahUngunu Tribe. He left New Zealand with the 14th Maori Reinforcements in the last war and served nearly two years with the New Zealand forces. He was also a member of the old Wairarapa Volunteers and had keen employed at several sheep stations in the Wairarapa, including Brancepeth and Glenside. The late Mr Anaru, on account of war" services, had been in poor health for some years. Members of the Carterton Branch of the R.S.A. are asked to parade to attend their late comrade’s funeral. Sincere sympathy is expressed for his relatives.

The funeral will take place tomorrow. leaving Waipoapoa, Gladstone, at 2 p.m. for the Gladstone Native Cemetery.
