CARTERTON SALE
Messrs Wright Stephenson & Co., Ltd., report as follows: — At the Carterton sale yesterday we offered a large yarding of all classes of stock to a good attendance of the public. Sheep sold readily at late rates, lambs firming on last week’s sale, while pigs and cattle also sold well. Realisations are as follow:—
Sheep.—Fat wrs and mdn ewes, 23s 2d, 21s, 20s; ewes, 14s 6d, 13s 7d; B.F. ewes. 15s 6d; heavy fat ewes, 18s 7d; lambs, 16s Id, 17s, 18s 4d; wr lambs. 13s 3d, 9s 2d; B.F. lambs, 16s, 15s 4d, 14s 6d, 14s 3d to 9s; 2-th wrs, 18s; ewe lambs, 27s 8d; store ewes. 7s 6d, 6s 9d, 6s Id, 5s 9d. 5s Id, 4s 6d; M.H., 20s 4d, 18s 2d; 2-th ewes, 20s.
Cattle—Spg cows, £9 10s, £9, £8; ylg hfs, £2 10s, £2 2s, £2; fat cows, £7 15s, £6, £5 7s 6d, £5 6s, £5; fwd cows. £4 13s, £4 12s, £4 6s, £4, £3 12s 6d; store cows, £2 13s; bulls, £6 6s, £5.
Pigs—Bacon ers, £3 Ils, £3 3s, £3, £2 16s to £2 7s; porkers, £2 ss, 40s, 39s 6d, 38s to 30s; weaners, 13s, 12s 6d, Ils, 10s 6d, 9s; small, 8s 6d, 7s 6d to 7s.
