OBITUARY MR. ALEXANDER DRUMMOND. (“Times-Age" Special.) The death occurred this week of Mr. Alexander Drummond, of Park Road, Hastings, who was well-known in the sawmilling industry throughout New Zealand and many years ago was a resident of this district. Mr. Drummond was born at Hokitika in 1867 and in his youth left to reside at Dunedin when he entered the sawmilling business. Later he became a member of the well-known firm of Drummond Bros., sawmillers, who carried on their business in both islands. The late Mr. Drummond was keen on all forms of sport and was always interested in the volunteer movement, being a member of the Dunedin Highlanders and later the Eketahuna Mounted Rifles, attaining the rank of sergeant-major. He was also a crack shot. Since going to Hawke's Bay, he carried on the sawmilling business in the province until his retirement a few years ago. He was predeceased by his wife ten years ago. Three sons, Messrs. Colin, Hector (Hastings) and Herbert (Lower Hutt) and two daughters, Miss Mona Drummond (Hastings) and Mrs. A. Muir (Rotorua) are left. Personal. Mi-. Morton Hansen, Alfredton Road, has returned home after attending the Dominion Conference of the Methodist Church at Dunedin. Mrs. W. Wilson, Auckland, who has been visiting her brother, Mr. Studholme, Rongokokako, has returned home. Mrs. E. Coster, Stanley Street, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Campbell, New Plymouth.
