MASTERTON' ASSOCIATION
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. COMPLAINTS ABOUT RAM FAIR. The president. Mr R. E. Cordon Lee. presided over a large attendance at the monthly meeting of the Masterton A. and P. Association’s general committee last night. A letter was received from the Royal Show Society asking the Association io forward its show dates for the 1941 season, to enable a list to bo supplied to the Racing Conference with a view Io avoiding clashes with race meetings The secretary was instructed to furnish February 18 and 19. 1941. as the Association’s show dales. Formal announcement of a legacy from the late Mr David Guild was received from the executors for the estate, which was accepted with thanks. Mr McLeod gave notice of motion that, at the annual meeting in August Miss Guild be elected a life member of the association.
"It was very pleasing to find such it tine showing of ponies and horses. The jumping was of a high class. It was indeed a splendid showing of ponies. I suggest that my donation bo used to a class for a team of three school ponies.” stated Mr Collinson, of Palmerston North, in returning his judge’s expenses. Messrs A. M. Atkins and D. Cameron also forwarded donations.
Seven now members were elected, while 4 resignations wore received. In connection will) the recent Ram Fail- several complaints were aired. Mi- L. T. Daniell considering that there were too many unregistered breeders nt the sale. In his opinion the sale should bo for shearling rams. After discussion it was decided to refer the matter lo the Ram Fair Committee.
The president referred to the sterling work put in by the stewards and committee at the show, and expressed regret that owing to the war conditions the show had not shown a profit. On behalf of committee members. Mr J. M. James mentioned the good work put in by the president. The secretary. Mr R. H. Williams, submitted a financial statement setting out the approximate position of the show finances, which showed a loss of £9O 13s 5d as against a profit of £77 last year. The Ram Failshowed a profit: of £124 as against £276 last year. The luncheon account showed a loss of £77 against a loss of £B7 last year.
