MORE MATCHES IN EGYPT

INTFR-UNIT COMPETITION. PLAY OF HIGH STANDARD. (P.y Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Good form was again shown in the second round of the New Zealand. Expeditionary Force Inter-Unit Rugby Football competition, played nt the Base Camp in Egypt on Wednesday last. Results were:— Army Service Corps beat Auckland Battalion. 11/9; Machine Gun Company beat Field Artillery Regiment, 5/3; Engineers and Signals beat Motor Transport Company, 5/3; Wellington Battalion beat. Divisional and Brigade Headquarters. 18/3; Canterbury and Otago Batalion beat Cavalry and Ambulance. B'3. The first two matches were particularly impressive. Both were exciting, and the issue of each was in doubt until the final whistle. A large attendance was delighted by the standard of play. Matches in this inter-unit series will continue on Wednesdays and Saturdays until the conclusion of the competition for the Freyberg Cup on April 3. A trial match to select a New Zealand team will be played on Easter Saturday, as a curtain-raiser to the annual British Army in Egypt v. Royal Air Force in Egypt game. New Zealand will meet a combined British Army and Royal Air Force team on Easter Monday. The proceeds are going to charity.
