MARKETING OF HIDES
REGULATIONS APPROVED STATEMENT BY MINISTER OF MARKETING. PERSONNEL OF CONTROL!.TNG COMMITTEE. iP.y "Telegraph—Press Asocial ion.) WELLINGTON. March 7. The Minister for Marketing (Mr W. Nash) announced today that the Hides Emergency Regulations, covering the sale of hides to both local and export markets, had been approved by the Governor-Genei’al-in-Obuncil and will be gazetted today. The Minister, in an interview, said the main provisions of the regulations were intended to ensure that local tanners should secure full supplies for domestic requirements at stabilised prices, and at the same time to prevent any undue dislocation of existing trading practices. Supervision of the sale of hides throughout, the Dominion would now be the responsibility of the Hides Committee, the personnel of which is us follows: —Messrs T. A. Duncan (chairman of the Meat Producers’ Board) who will represent both that board and the New Zealand Sheepowners’ Federation; S. L. Wright, president of the New Zealand Tenners’ Association: J. F. Carter, president of the Master Butchers’ Association; A. A. Moore, president of the Livestock Butchers’ Association; A. P. O'Shea. Dominion Secretary of the Farmers’ Union: J. P. Mac Kay, president 01. the North Island Freezing Companies' Association, who will also represent South Island freezing companies; W. V. Watson, president of the Hides Exporters’ Association; G. P. Roberts, a member of the Wool Brokers’ Association.
Messrs G. A. Duncan. Director of the Export Division of the Marketing Depariment. and A. IL Cockayne. Direc-tor-General of Agriculture, will be members of the committee ex officio.
