) DISPLAY IN OPERA HOUSE. f The first evening's entertainment for 3 Masterton’s Centennial week will be a display unique in the history of the . town. The fashion parade in the f Opera House on Monday night will be an historically interesting colourful f spectacle. Period dresses will in many cases be . worn by the great grand-daughters. . grand-daughters and daughters of the original owners. Coloured lights will throw into relief the charm and variety of each different creation and a brief ■ account of its history will be given. ' Then to suitable music, softly played, each wearer will slowly parade. Not only tlie beauties but the eccentricities of the various fashions will be amply displayed. Ancient and modern styles will be shown in contrast, and the amazing changes in the female form, from amplitude of curves to a boyish straightness. Amongst the many dresses to be displayed arc a number of wedding gowns' <1 varied colours and designs, a Court presentation gown, and a frock worn at a garden party given by the Emperor of Japan. A crinoline of 1840 will be the opening number. A small committee under the chairmanship of the Mayoress (Mrs T. Jordan) has all arrangements well in hand, and the final rehearsal will, take place at tlie Opera House at 7 p.m. tomorrow. The musical arrangements arc in the capable hands of Mrs Miller Hope, assisted by a choir of six. voices. The coloured lights have been lent by the Mastertoll Amateur Theatrical Society.
