FIRE BRIGADE BUSINESS AT MONTHLY MEETING. ("Times-Age" Special.) Superintendent H. Rogers presided over a good attendance of members at (he monthly meeting of the Fire Brigade held last night. Information regarding the Wellington District Conference to be held at Upper Hutt at Easter was received. Secretary S. Daniel was appointed delegate to the conference. Accounts amounting to £4 12s 3d were passed. The Social Committee was authorised to arrange an entertainment for the annual meeting which will be held next month. Nominations of officers were received for the forthcoming year, Fireman S. J. O’Regan was appointed the brigade auditor. An election for two active members resulted in Messrs F. West and G. Clapham being elected. Messrs R. Payne and F. Robinson were elected honorary members. It was decided to write to the Borough Council pointing out that several plugs needed marking and cleaning.
OBITUARY MR HENRY LEACH. The late Mr Henry Leach, whose death toon place in the Pahiatua Hospital on Thursday last, was the eldest son of the late Mr and Mrs Henry Wise Leach and was born at Pent. Flat, Waitiwhiti, Tiraumea, 64 years ago. For many years he was engaged in farming in the Haunui district. In 1918 i:e purchased a farm at Putara where he stayed for about 10 years and then returned to Ihe Tiraumea district, where he had resided ever since, being engaged as a farm contractor. The late Mr Leach was a keen member of the Alfredton Rifle Club for 14 years, and proved a marksman of no mean ability. The funeral took place at the Eketahuna Cemetery on Saturday. The large cortege testified to the great esteem in which the deceased was held m the Alfredton and Tiraumea districts. Members of the Alfredton Rifle Club acted as pall-bearers, and these were Messrs A. Edmonds, A. Algie, E. Seymour, H. Duckett, L. Duckett, and J. Torry (nephew). The Rev. L Ives officiated at the graveside. Seven sisters and three brothers are left to mourn their great loss and the sympathy of a large number of friends will be extended to the bereaved relatives. Personal. Mrs W. Hooper is at present indisposed. Mr J. Robertson, M.P., and Mrs Robertson were, present at the dance on Monday night. Mrs J. Leach. North Auckland, returns today after spending a few days with relatives in the Alfredton district.
