The Hon R. Semple. Minister of Public Works, returned to Wellington today from the South Island. The Hon F. Langstone, Minister of Lands, left Wellington this morning for Napier. The Hon P. C. Webb. Minister of Labour, returned to Wellington yesterday from the South Island.
One of the best-known men in the medical profession in Christchurch. Dr. J. P. Whetter, died suddenly at his home recently. He was 62 years of age.
Mr Cyril Pedersen, of 19 King Edward Street, who was admitted to the Masterton Hospital the other day with a severe cut on his left foot, is reported •o be making satisfactory progress. Messrs G. L. Before the commencement of business at yesterday’s meeting of the Masterton County Council, a motion of condolence was passed with the relatives of the late Mr C. E. Bremner. a former road board and county engineer. whose death occurred at Lower Hutt last month.
Stoker Eddie Barnes, of 11.M.5. Achilles, is at present visiting Masterton as tlie guest of Mr and Mrs G. H. McFarlane. Church Street. Stoker Barnes joined tlie Navy from Palea and some two years ago was resident in Masterton witli his parents. Mr and Mrs W. Barnes.
