COMMUNIST ACTIVITIES
VIGOROUS ATTACK MADE BY MR SEMPLE. (By Telegraph—Press Asocialion.) CHRISTCHURCH. March 4. Vigorously attacking the activities of the Communist organisation in New Zealand in an address to the men of the Addington worshops today, the Minister of Public Works, the Hon R. Semple, was enthusiastically applauded when he declared that the distribution of poisonous propaganda and treacherous lies in the workshops of New Zealand must cease. "An organisation is at work in New Zealand and is seeking to overthrow our own form of democratic Government and transplant in New Zealand a ruthless and bloodthirsty dictatorship." declared Mr Semple. "Foreign spies and pimps are propagating a gospel that does not belong to this country and which is foreign to the British mind and spirit. The gospel of Communism feeds on misery and strife. It appeals to the loekpicker. the burglar and the denizen of the underworld. The distribution of this propaganda will not be tolerated any longer and that gang of potential murderers that has accepted a foreign Judas’s coin is not going to be allowed to wreck this country.”
