GALLANT AIRMAN

LATE SQUADRON-LEADER LAMB. APPEARANCE IN BRITISH FILM. Moro than usual local interest will attach to the screening in Masterton of the British film "The Lion Hath Wings,” which depicts among other things a reconstruction of the Royal Air Force raid on the Kiel Canal immediately after Die outbreak of the war, as the No. 9 Bomber Squadron, under the command of the late Squad-ron-Leader Lennox Lamb, son of Mr and Mrs W. G. Lamb, of Masterton. the squadron which actually took part in the raid, was used in the making of the film. Squadron-Leader Lamb is seen in the film to dive down in his plane over a German battleship and drop his bombs.

This notable Masterion airman, who subsequently lost his life in an accident on October 31. was known as an ace pilot for stunting and his cleveress in aerobatics stood him in good stead in the Kiel raid. When he returned to England, it was found Dial his machine did not have a single bullet hole in it and his feat in dodging the tire of the enemy earned him (lie name of'"Snake" among his follow airmen.
