Jim Ferrier, failed to arrive for a tournament, the sponsors of which explained that they were unable to make contact with him. to issue an invitation, but they held a reservation open until the last minute, due to information from Los Angeles, that Ferrier intended to participate. At present it is believed that the Australian underestimated the time required for the motor trip.
