It was my job as Minister to appoint a man 1 thought would nil the position with credit. Mr Tyndall has a difficult task ahead of him. The Court has high traditions and he succeeds many eminent men. While the appointment may be away from the orthodox. I lee) we have appointed the man for the job. “1 am convinced that no one in New Zealand is better qualified for the position than our new judge. He fills the legal requirements of his position for he is a qualified lawyer, and he has a wide knowledge of industry. He is a civil engineer of high qualifications and wide experience and his.knowledge extends to other branches of industry.
