BOWLING

CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS SINGLES. WON BY HARRY ROLLS. A series of matches to find the Wairarapa singles champion was played at the Park green on Saturday. The green was true but heavj' after the previous day’s rain and at the conclusion of the matches the Centre President (Mr Hayne) congratulated the Park Club's officials on the excellent playing conditions provided. Play commenced at 10 a.m. and the ultimate winner proved to be the ever popular Harry Rolls, of Featherston, who by steady, consistent play, disposed of his five opponents in succession. A large number of spectators were treated to a splendid exhibition of bowling by all players but as the day wore on it became evident that the Featherston player's consistent accuracy would be hard to beat. Detailed results are: — First round: Rolls (Featherston) beat Hart (Carterton); Christian (Masterton) beat Ross (Martinborough); McLeod (Greytown) beat Simpson (Park). Second round: Rolls beat Simpson; Hart beat Ross; Christian beat McLeod; Third round: McLeod beat Ross; Rolls beat Christian; Simpson beat Hart. Fourth round: Simpson beat Ross: Christian beat Hart; Rolls beat McLeod. Fifth round: Rolls beat Ross. At the conclusion the winner received the congratulations of the Centre President and a hearty round of cheers from all present.
